The Three Nephites! Hudson's podcast Week 102

Elder Cuff can speak Spanish!  It has helped with Hudson's street contacting.  Hudson feels he is doing so well as a missionary.  He is months ahead of where Hudson was in his first transfer.  All three of the companionship is over 6 feet and 200 lbs.  Hudson is referring to them as the three Nephites!  The Elders have received soda from people they visit, but they don't drink it.  Elder Cuff found a creative way to use it by giving it to strangers and being good Samaritans.  He also offered an orange to a homeless man along with the diet coke.

Monday, August 22:  Zone Conference.  President Galland asked if he took a space travel in the future what would he see regarding missionary work.  Hudson said he feels missionaries will become influencers on Facebook.    He then told Hudson he doesn't want to make him feel "trunky" but since he is leaving the mission, he won't be able to be part of it.  He then asked all the Elders who were there for their last zone conference to come up and bear their testimony.

They have been finding a lot of people, but they don't currently have anyone on date or in other terms progressively taking the lessons.

Zenna that they were teaching has gone to jail.  When they went over to her house her mother was having a phone call with her, so the Elder's counted that as a contact.

They are planning a temple trip with new convert Cassandra.  They have been working on names for her to take.  She will be speaking in sacrament 08/28/22.

Friday, August 26:  Went to see Thomas George, a self-referral, in the corner of the area.  His caretaker Alex, which was a large black man, answered the door. He brought Thomas into the room who was wearing an oven mitt and Thomas freaked out yelling No Jehovah Witness'.  It was obvious that he was special needs. Hudson apologized and explained Thomas filled something out online and they were there following up with that.  The Elders had dinner with the Hendersons and Welchers on Percy Priest Lake.  It was beautiful to watch the water and Hudson can't wait to go swimming.

Hudson has been drinking lots of apple juice and eating lots of kiwis.  Especially before bed.  The Elders have been putting a jalapeno and onion blend in their eggs each morning.  It turns the kitchen into a gas chamber, but it tastes good in the end.

Wednesday, August 31:  Hudson called tonight while walking across the yard of his apartment complex.  Apparently, the AP's live in the same complex and had stolen his laundry detergent.  He had gone to get it back.  Earlier in the day Hudson had called while he was in downtown Nashville for PDay.  He was trying to buy some clothes and only had $19.21 on his personal debit card.  He asked if I could put some money on it for him so he could check out at the store.  I politely reminded him we leave 15 minutes from town, but I would get it on his account.  While in downtown Nashville he ran into some return missionaries.  One of them had served in the Utah Ogden mission and even got to cover the North Stake here in Idaho.  Hudson asked him if serving in Idaho was considered outer darkness of the mission.  I was relieved to hear that is not the case at all.  In fact, it is the coveted spot to be placed while serving in this mission.

Week 101

This week Hudson was able to help a recent convert set up and take down his wedding decor in the church house.  As a bonus Hudson got to bring home the leftover fruits and fine meats and cheeses!

Elder Asay sent him a picture of a fish he caught in Alaska when he got home.  Just a bit bigger then what they were catching in Tennessee.

Wednesday, August 24:  PDay brought Hudson working on his My Plan.  It is a program the exiting missionaries complete before they are released.  He got to participate in some basketball and then went for a hike in Radner Lake State Park.  He saw lots of wildlife including deer, turtles and birds.  He got to play Secret Hitler since Amazon was so quick to deliver it.  When Sister Wells left the area, so did her game so Hudson asked me to mail him one.  As we were talking on the phone Hudson saw a roach.  This is the 4th one he has seen in the apartment and he is not happy about it.  He took after it with his machete.

Week 100!!!

Hudson's video chat caught us waiting at a table for our dinner to be delivered.  Chevy leaves for Boise state tomorrow so we took him out for his last supper to Ruby's.  Hudson then got to come school shopping to Wal-Mart with us.  He is enjoying his trio.  I got to speak with Elder Cuff the new missionary he is training.  He asked me if 2 years really went by that slowly or has it been fast to me as the mom.  I told him since he was a missionary, I wasn't going to lie to him.  I did tell him the weeks don't drag so much with the weekly pictures, emails and phone calls.  That will help his Mom out a lot.  Hudson said during the training meeting he told Hudson as well as 2 other Elders he didn't know why they were training on their last transfer; it was just what the spirit guided him to do.  Hudson felt that was a pretty good reason.

Hudson'sPodcast Week 99

It took a lot of persuading, but Hudson finally sent a podcast.  I told him he was going to be sorry that the last two transfers of his mission were so poorly documented.  He assured me he was keeping his journal up to date.

Last transfer news!  Hudson will finish out his mission in the Smith Spring C area in Antioch.  He will be training in a trio.  His apartment feels empty with his keyboard and winter clothing gone.  Elder Downs found a YSA member that was driving to Utah and was taking his guitar for him.  Hudson was happy to load her up about 80 pounds of his 2-year collection.  He kept his Fleetwood Mac songbook to continue playing on the guitar that is left in his apartment along with the church's piano.  When he got to the Stake House he chose to sit next to a new Elder and proceeded to tell him, you are my son.  Sure enough, when they called them to the front, they were told to bring up the guy next to them.  Elder Corbin Cuff from the St. George area and Elder Dawson Simkins from Springville, UT.

The area had a going away party at the church.

Hudson was able to go to another temple trip with the Franklin Branch!
