A little taste of home Week 62

Hudson's P-Day was changed this week to Thursday in honor of Thanksgiving.  He was too busy enjoying the holiday to send an email.  One of the biggest even that occurred during the week was a visit from Idaho.  Hudson had asked if anyone was driving through that could take some of the boxes he has collected, it would really help out when he comes home.  These great neighbors were up for the challenge. The Migliori's headed to Georgia for a funeral.  They left Franklin late Tuesday night November 16.  After hitting a deer in Nebraska, they finally made it to Hudson Sunday morning November 21 at about 12:30 AM.  They slept in the Gregory Mills church parking lot and attended the 9:00 session with the sister missionaries. Hudson got to exchange hugs and boxes for about 20 minutes before he headed into his 10:30 sacrament meeting.  Hudson was happy to share with me a picture of what he was eating for lunch that day...

Sherry Fraser (Hudson Podcast Week 61)

Hudson thinks fall colors are a bit more colorful in Smyrna, but still not comparable to Maple Creek Canyon.  The leaves mostly turn from green to brown.

Wednesday:  Volleyball with Spanish Elders from their Zone at Stones River.  Elder Clark is sleeping in tangled sheets, yes the Disney movie.  Streets are brick pavers on them.

Thursday:  Visit to Catholic preacher and Arabic family in Laverne .

Friday:  Baptism of David in river that has been working with the sister missionary's.  Visited Darlene and asked if they could give her husband a priesthood blessing.  He suffers from dementia and is not able to choose to be baptized.  Exchange with Zone Leader Elder Tueller in Murfreesboro.  He is a good piano player that plays by ear.  Hudson wanted him to teach him how to change hymns in to sounding more fancy.  Elder Johnson and Owen went to Varga's part member family who set a date for the 11 year old son's baptism.

Saturday:  Meal with Brother Scowl in their apartment complex.  He prepared a Thanksgiving meal for his kids since they will be with his wife for Thanksgiving.  Served rotisserie chicken, microwaved beans and homemade Chocolate French Silk pie.  Baptism for Mason with sisters in Hudson's district.

Sunday:  Call with Facebook family the Oldredge's.  They tried to create a bash, but the Elder's weren't having it.  They do not accept that there is still a chance to learn in the spirit world.

Monday:  Texted with Christina about her crazy hair.  She offered to have them come hang out.  She is a pagan who loves Jesus Christ.  She came to the church to meet them from Murfreesboro and was 15 minutes early!  Went to zone conference.  Goal is to invite 30 people a day to do something religious.  Spoke with Arabic family in the Panda Express parking lot.  A black man pulled into the parking lot and started yelling at Elder Johnson about preaching a false gospel.   He said the Elders must repent now or be destroyed!  They would not repent so he told him that he would rebuke them by the Holy Spirit?  Elder Johnson continued speaking to him and offered to share a message for him to pray about.  He then told Hudson to repent and turn away from his sinful ways.  The Panda Express worker came out and agreed she does not like Jehovah Witness's knocking on her door.  The poor Arabic family saw the whole thing.  Hudson wanted to act out Alma and Amulek and tell him "O yeah child of hell why you tempest though me?"

Hudson is asking for a name suggestion for his keyboard. He also wants a rap topic.

Shared a joke of Elder's serving in Zimbabwe.

Bruh Moment (Hudson Podcast Week 60)

Thursday:  Elder Johnson joined Muslim vs Jehovah Witness Facebook groups.  He spoke with a man in Las Vegas from that group that kept talking and talking.  Hudson went to the kitchen to make lunch and Elder Johnson came out to get a bowl of cereal as well.  They finally ended the call after 50 minutes with him not answering six times, what was in the Book of Mormon he thought was blasphemy.  He responded 30 minutes later with a Peter vs Paul debate in a long text.  Still no Book of Mormon contradictions?

Friday:  Apartment complex cook out.  Nathan played 12 string guitar that was phenomenal.  Hudson hoped he knew how to cook with charcoal, but sadly he did not.  He put 20 briquets into the grill and covered them with lighter fluid.  He let the flames die down so they would not taste like lighter fluid, but then he was not getting much heat.  They used more lighter fluid and their kabobs got literally roasted.  They turned out alright to eat.  Watched Monster House at Brett's apartment for about 20 minutes with a three year old.

Saturday:  Elder Wiscombe put Hudson and Elder Johnson in a group chat with a member from Pastor Bryan's Life Point church.  He came for a tour of the church, then sat the boys down and told them they need to stop preaching about a false Jesus in Smyrna. He wants Smyrna to love Jesus and they are ruining that. Hudson told him he had a meeting in 45 minutes and the guy wanted another meeting set for longer.  The church man bashed on Joseph Smith, but had nothing specific on the LDS Church.  Hudson pulled out the Book of Mormon challenge.  Neither had read it. He told them he would talk with them after they read and prayed about it.  Elder Johnson wants to talk with them again.  He set another meeting for Saturday.  Hudson will be on a transfer with the zone leader and is happy he won't have to attend.  FHE with ward family that is not active.  Played basketball.  His name is Chris, he looks like Uncle Sky, who has a son named Ozzy.

Sunday:  Hudson on Sunday Night Devo for the first time in his 14 months!  Went to the Gambers for dinner after fast Sunday.  He ate about two pounds of roast.

Monday:  District council and leader training.  Interview with President Weaver that involved the bashers he just met.  President Weaver came into Hudson's training to observe and ended up taking over.  Sister Weaver committed to asking some ladies she met to come to church.

Tuesday:  Went to Mark Roberts house again.  He served in Afghanistan and the Elder's brought up some sad memories.  He told them the Elder's make him feel good when they are in his house.  They challenged him to create that feeling on his own.  He offered to give them tattoos and asked if they wanted to give him a tattoo (multiple times).  Gave baptismal interview to Mason who is a 17 year old who looks 30.  The sisters have been working with him.  He has been studying the church in depth for three years and knows "more than Hudson".   He wants to serve a mission!

Wednesday:  Meeting Elder Clark and Elder Mooso in Murfreesboro for sand volleyball and spikeball.

Classy uno (Hudson Podcast Week 59)

New Elders came while Hudson was doing a ward temple visit for baptisms for the dead.  The temple is very small compared to Logan.  He says there are only 2 lockers in the mens locker room at the baptistry.  He returned back to the apartment at 9:00.  They told Brett to give the newbies a hard time.  Brett stopped by and offered to take them to El Pueblo where he proceeded to get drunk in front of them, his daughter and girlfriend.  He made the Elder's feel very awkward.  Apartment cookout is planned for this Friday.

Thursday:  Lesson with Christopher Cameron who is divorced and lives with his mom, nieces and nephews.  Baptized 1 year ago by Elder LaBray.  Lesson with Vira who has a 2 year old baby that had brain surgery and still has a feeding tube.  Cracker Barrell with the Dunoways.  While waiting, Elder Johnson was very vocally introducing himself to everyone.  Hudson felt like he was too loud as people seemed to be running away to hide from him.  The manager came out and asked him to stop talking to people in the store.

Friday:  Lunch at Cracker Barrell with Sister Brewer and Darlene.  Darlene wants them to come to her house 3 days a week to discuss the Book of Mormon.  She wishes the missionaries had found her sooner.  She feels she was a different person as soon as she came out of the baptism water.

Gospel message of the week:  Keep up the missionary effort.

Saturday:  Hudson had some sketchy meetings this week.  One was Mark Rogers who lives in this house or sometimes the trailer in the backyard.  He lost his wife to a car crash a year ago, along with all his teeth.  He goes to work comes home drinks and smokes goes to bed and repeats.  He is very lonely.  He had caught a possum and brought it in the house for a pet.  He named it Possum Rogers.  It ran away one day when the door got left open.  STL's have a baptism coming up for Nathan who wants to be baptized in the Gregory Mills Creek on Wednesday at 11:00AM.  Hudson gets to do the interview!  Mt Juliet sisters are great.  Sister Christiansen is attending SUU and works at Brian Head.  Hudson feels they might cross paths again.  Went to Brandon's house that was pretty sketchy.  He pulled in behind them after a McDonald's run.  Inside on the table Hudson finds marijuana bowls, propane torch, whiskey and shot glasses, tobacco and rolling papers.  He has a Ludwig piano from 1801 with horse hair strings.  He is wearing a bandana and a bowling alley t-shirt from his teenage years.  He brings out an old, large bible.  After they had been there for 5 minutes, someone knocks on the door.  Hudson is very nervous who will be joining them.  A fifty year old women, Candy Pots, came in screaming that her boyfriend of 7 years had bugged her car.  She sees the missionaries and yells praise the Lord, the spirit is in this house tonight and I need a prayer.  She stayed and talked with them for about an hour.  She says her boyfriend killed someone and the dead body was on the porch.  Then her boyfriend hauled the body to the backyard.  She asked the missionaries for advice.  They don't know what to say.  She then tells them she has chili in the car that she has to get to her mom?  She asks what the difference is between Baptist and Mormon.  Hudson tells her it is the Book of Mormon.  She asks if she can take the book.  The Elder's say of course and she leaves.  After she leaves they find out her and Brandon have been neighbors for 5 years.  He tells them her mind is that of a 16 year old.  Elders sabotaged his bed by switching box springs and mattress.  Hudson went to sit on the bed and tips over.  He was wearing his Dr. Pepper armor and had two pillows.  He took no mercy on beating the Elders with his pillow.  He even broke Elder Owens glasses and shattered the light fixture, whoops!  He threatens them to fix his bed and leaves the room.  Upon return they have put his entire bed, including the frame in the closet.

Information of the week:  Cat Stevens converted to Islam.  Muhammad is sometimes compared to Joseph Smith.  Islam believes to confirm the truth of the religion they base it on logic and reason.  They think Jesus was a prophet, but not the son of God.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints believe we should read the Book of Mormon and pray for confirmation.

Sister Brewer called while Hudson was recording.  She is going in to surgery and wanted a prayer before she goes.
