Week 97

Hudson has had an uneventful week in hot Antioch.  He tells me his temperature gauge in the apartment is set at a cool 70 degrees.  I tell him it is a good thing he is not paying the power bill.  He led the music in zone conference last week, and my quick tutorial over DUO was not very good.  I think he just forgot what I told him.  Sister Galland stepped in and got him on beat as well as talking him through 2/4 time when they sang praise to the man.  He said he did the conductor arm swing really going on the chorus of that one.  When zone conference was over with President Weaver, they were excused row by row to drive directly back to their apartments.  Usually, Hudson stopped for lunch. President Galland encouraged them to mingle in the gym for an hour and visit.  Very different.  President Galland also was very lighthearted and making a lot of jokes which President Weaver new did, except for inspirational Peloton videos.  President Galland also did not sleep after Hudson's zone conference, so he was not able to participate as fully in the next one.  Even adults go through missionary training it seems. Hudson will have his first one on one interview with President Galland next Tuesday.  He is excited for that.  He also is excited to tune into Colby Dean's homecoming talk in Franklin 1st ward by zoom on Sunday, July 31.

Wednesday, July 27:  PDay the area makes a nacho table!  Hudson thought we definitely need to do this at one of Grandma's parties.

Week 96

Jake Brown posted this picture on Facebook asking if anyone would like to feed the missionaries.

Missionaries in Nashville created a video and humility.  Hudson says the multiple Facebook zone pages will be combined into 2 or 3.

The Franklin Elders finally got the new converts the journals I sent to them.  Each was so kind to send Hudson a thank you message.  I hope they will have lots of spiritual experiences to record in them.

Wednesday, July 20:  Hudson went to the zoo today with his area.  One of the missionaries was a veteran of some sort so they got a discount along with a group discount.  It only cost $10 per person instead of $20.   Unfortunately, they were all in a big hurry to leave. He does not know why.  They kept asking if he was done yet.

Hudson's Podcast Week 95

Mission focus will be having more spirit present in lessons.  That will include kneeling prayer and focusing on next covenant.  Hudson says there has already been some great progress.  Nashville Zone had a meet and great with the Galland's.  Hudson says President Galland has some shifty eyes and strange movements.  Sister Galland has massive TRICEPS!  She could probably beat some people up.  Hudson saw a fugitive chase while driving through Nashville.  It is an interesting town.  He thinks the little Guatemala Wal-Mart parking lot says it all.  You can't govern yourself if you can't return your shopping cart to the cart stall.

Saturday, July 16:  Franklin branch had their ward baptism temple trip.  Hudson was able to meet up with them.  Unfortunately, Betty did not make it as she relapsed in smoking.  The Branch President told her it was between her and God, not him.

Sunday, July 10:  Baptism of Cassandra.  She has been talking to the Elder's in Mt. Juliet for 4 months.  Hudson and Elder Northrup gave her 4 lessons.  At one of the lessons she asked for more clarification of Joseph Smith.  Hudson was a bit concerned about how well she has been taught.  They did the service right after church and 70 ward members came.

Hudson met a random person in Wal-Mart that sang and danced for the Elder's.

Met James in 65+ high rise.  He wants to have a formal meeting in set up in the rec room.  He seems to be quite popular with the ladies and he has "boodoo" doll.  Hudson asked for a picture so the people in the building would know who they are trying to contact.  He took them into his apartment to make it a formal setting.

Lessons with Darnell and Brandi that have been dating for 14 years and have word of wisdom issues.

Wednesday, July 20:  The missionaries met with a ward member about 10 minutes out of Nashville that has a goat yoga studio.

Hudson's Podcast Week 94

Hudson has had a HOT week in Antioch.  He says the temperature is in the 90's with humidity at 80% making it feel like 115!  He feels damp like he is in the shower all day when he is outside.  Street contacting has come to a standstill.  The apartment complexes look like everyone has deserted them.  He says it is almost eerie.  He is glad at times like these to have social media to use (never thought he would say that).  When he does get someone to answer the door it feels like a freezer pouring out on them.  They have good air conditioning.

He got a call from the Mt. Juliet Elders who have an investigator on date for Saturday July 9.  Hudson assumed it would be a poor lead but turns out she is solid.  The Elder's found her on Facebook and didn't check her address.  She has been driving 50 minutes to go to church with them.  I feel bad the Mt. Juliet Elder's did all the work for Hudson and his companion to facilitate the baptism, but it will be great whoever does it.

The Elders have been meeting at the church to play basketball.

He went to talk to a former and when she answered there was a red wasp on her door.  The Elder's had backed up and tried to warn her it was there.  It ended up climbing inside and she chased it back out with a broom.  All the while her roommate was yelling, "you go girl, get that wasp."  Luckily no one was stung, but she asked the Elder's to come back on Thursday.

Hudson has been meeting with a Sudan Refugee who has been teaching him graphically about the justice system in her country.  Murder is about the only thing they prosecute and that is done by asking the murdered persons family what they want done with you, interesting.

Friday, July 1:  Goodbye President Weaver.

Sunday, July 3:  Zone Conference to meet President Galland.  He is layed back and a bit improper, but Hudson feels like he is a stud.  They met at the Stake Center and Sister Galland gave them all candy bars and asked getting to know them questions.  It will be an entertaining 2 transfers if nothing else.

Monday, July 4:  Ward Pancake breakfast and firework show at the bishop's house.  The people he is teaching came to both activities.  Bad news is they are living together and not married.

Tuesday, July 5:  Service for a catholic man by helping in his garden.

Wednesday, July 6:  PDay at Opryland.  It apparently is a resort that has a gigantic atrium with hundreds of live plants inside.  He did not visit the Grand 'Ol Opry or see anything Country Music Related.  He went to the Boot Barn and bought a $300 pair of cowboy boots and then got 2 free.  Elder Northrup and Jensen picked up the extras along with a sister missionary who got hers for about $100 also.  Hudson only had $100 cash on him, so he used his mission food card to pick up the rest.  He is hoping he doesn't get a call when that charge goes through.
