Week 1 Logan Temple

Hudson was able to attend the Logan, UT temple today to receive his own endowment.  With Covid-19 restrictions we were limited to 16 people in the party to attend with him.  He asked Stuart Knapp to be his escort.  Stuart showed up 1 minute late as he had lost his recommend that morning somewhere between the farm and the house.  The temple workers were very gracious and allowed a phone call to be made to check his recommend was active.  After a quick temperature check (which we all passed) we were able to enter.  It was unbelievably quiet even in the realm of how quiet the temple usually is.  What a great experience with some greatpeople we both love.  I am so glad he was able to do this before leaving for Tennessee, and that I could experience it with him.   The Knapp's were so kind to treat us at Cafe Sabor afterward for a delicious Mexican lunch.

Illness Strikes at the MTC

Hudson started with a sore throat.  It progressed to an upset stomach and then productive cough with sinus congestion.  He used his first P-day to literally rest.  I was glad he got to use his high school blanket one more time before leaving.  There was a LOT of orange juice drank, in hopes to beat the illness.  He asked about getting a Covid -19 test.  I feel until if gets worse it isn't necessary.  Let's hope this isn't a sign of things to come as he ventures to a new germ community!

MTC Begins

Hudson officially started the MTC (from the comfort of his bedroom) today.  The day was filled with introductions while he met the other 6 people in his learning group.  4 are girls and the other two his first "companions" Elder Aguirre and Elder Wilks.  He later joined a workshop with everyone starting the MTC today with him that included around 200 missionaries.  Technology has some amazing capabilities.

And the tag goes on

Hudson was officially set apart as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Tuesday, September 15 at 8:30pm.  He was set apart by Stake President Dransfield in the high council room of the Franklin Stake Center.  His appointment was at 7:30 along with Sister Sarah Hobbs.  Chevy was asked to play in the JV game at Mt. Crest at 4:00 that same afternoon.  Chevy's game ran a bit longer than we thought but we made it to the church at 7:40 with the aid of Mitch's speedy driving and a lot of green lights.  We had a bit of a wait while they finished Sister Hobbs, but we were glad to have the personal experience.  We had to take Chevy back to Preston to pick up his car so why not take the new missionary out for a burger at Big J's.

Boys Weekend

Hudson spent the last few weekends with his friends.  He got to go to Salt Lake with a stop at Lagoon.  Later he went paint balling in Pocatello with a stop by the BYU-I campus.  Purchasing the Travis Scott burger at McDonalds completed the outing.

Unemployed

Hudson is officially unemployed!  He spent the summer working concrete for Feel the Steel amongst other odd jobs.  Not the cleanest work you can have.

Soaking up the water

Hudson spent Labor day getting in some water sport activities.  He went carp fishing in the drift boat on the Bear River and knee boarding/swimming at Oneida reservoir.  Hudson has been using the reservoir to cool him down after work all summer.  Nothing quite like jumping in Glendale after moving concrete forms all day in 90+ degree weather.

Sacrament Talk

Hudson spoke today for the last time in the home ward prior to leaving for his mission.  He was given the topic of obedience.  Covid once again made things interesting.  Our ward meets every third Sunday at 3 different times to allow social distancing.  Hudson got to give his talk three times, in the span of three hours.  I apologized to him beforehand for the struggle I was going to have with playing Called to Serve on the organ, as the closing song.  Even with my difficulties it was still a great meeting with lots of prayers going out to him and this new adventure.

Using the Priesthood

Hudson was able to baptize his brother two years ago.  Today he confirmed his sister after Chevy baptized her.  What an amazing use of the priesthood!
