Turns out, my uncle is my grandpa! (Hudson's Podcast Week 78)

18th Months Downs

Hudson starts out his podcast playing Jessica's Theme from The Man from Snowy River.  Hoping to sooth our senses before starting.  His chair in the Franklin apartment is very squeaky.  His food supply is low, and they need to go shopping today.

Wednesday, March 9: PDay Back to the pond for bass fishing this time.  Hudson spends a lot of time with the Portland Elders.  The two sets of missionaries split the area in half, so church events and member meals are done with all four of them.  They play Coup a lot as a district, along with secret Hitler.  Similar layout to Werewolf.

Thursday, March 10:  Zone Conference in Hopkinsville.  Hudson told Elder Weaver that Moses was his example of commitment.  Poor Moses put up with a bunch of people that could not be pleased.  Hudson feels he learned if he wants eternal life he has to stay committed and put up with some people's nonsense as Moses did.  Great object lesson when the leader offers the group a treat, but one person has to do 10 pushups for each person that takes one. Some people will choose not to take the treat, so the person doesn't have to suffer, but surprise he has to do the pushups either way showing how Christ suffered even for those who don't accept the atonement.   Hudson and Elder Richards were called on to be the administering angels that helped the Hawaiin man finish about 300 pushups.  Mosiah 14 talks about Isaiah's scriptures regarding Christ's atonement.  In 3 Nephi 20 something Christ quotes Isaiah as well.  Woah!

Friday, March 11:  Carolyn wants to meet and have lunch this time.  They are at the church and cook a lunch of hot dogs with Sister Roach, her husband and 2 granddaughters.  As much as Sister Roach tries, Carolyn will not tell them anything about herself.  She says she doesn't want to share stuff with strangers?  The boys are confused.

Sunday, March 13:  Street contacting while visiting formers in the government housing.  Hudson decides to talk to a black family who pulls up.  He offers to share a scripture and she tells him she got her message from the priest this morning so amen and hallelujah.

Tuesday, March 15:  Sister Roach drives the boys to three lessons and proceeds to sit in on all of them.  Carolyn calls four times.  One time she tells them to stop calling her, because she doesn't like that they share bible scriptures about Ukraine.  Then she calls them back and acts like everything is great then hangs up.  Talking to Jimmy who hates all churches, but follows the commandments.  He doesn't believe in Jesus but does believe in the Messiah. What? Hudson has met a lot of religiously ignorant people in Franklin.  But he doesn't want to dwell on that!  Has been talking to Hannah on Facebook.  She calls and Hudson hangs up thinking it is a robot call.  Hudson calls her back and ends up talking for an hour.  She has a lot of family issues and one statement she makes is "Turns out, my uncle in my grandpa!"  She refers to Hudson as Elder about 40 minutes in and he founds out she is a member of the Bowling Green Ward that was baptized about 2 year ago, but is inactive.  She loves talking with the missionaries however.  Tonight headed to the temple for an endowment session, tomorrow for PDay.
