Wait are you talking to Elder Nelson? (Hudson's Podcast Week 80)

Thursday, March 24 Lesson with Matt.  He has a little boy who sits and plays Mortal Combat during the lesson.  Matt is very attentive and commits to change and church attendance.  Went to another trailer, but Miss D was not there and they talked to her son.  He is a Wicken and suggested Hudson read the Ultimate Book of Witchcraft.  He asked Hudson if he could have his book.  Hudson suggested he read it and they will come back next week.  Hudson and Elder Walrath herd a sheep back to his pen in the trailer park?  The sheep dog is wanting to be petted instead of getting the sheep back.

Saturday, March 26 Double Baptism!!  Alan and JoAnn both got baptized in Spring Hill.  Hudson got to talk to Alan on Elder Asay's phone.  Alan was a man Hudson messaged randomly on Facebook and invited to church 4 weeks ago.  He quickly took to joining the church.  He explained to Hudson how his chest was burning when he went down into the water and then when he came up, he felt so refreshed.  He received the Priesthood on Sunday.  Danielle missed her baptism as the Elder's could not reach her.

Monday, March 28 Dinner at the Bewers.  Danielle is there, but she has questions about Joseph Smith.  In her practice baptismal interview she told them she new Joseph Smith was a prophet, but now she feels confused and that is why she blew them off.  They had a simplified restoration lesson and she took lots of notes.  Watched Ask of God video.

Tuesday, March 29 Went to the Boyers for a movie night and watched Prophet the restoration.  Sister Bewer made them air popped popcorn!  Danielle felt much more informed and plans to be baptized Sunday, April 3.

Hudson finally finished his Christmas puzzle!

Wednesday, March 30 For PDay the Moore's take the Elders to the Lost River Caves in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  They took a boat ride into a cave to see where the river gets lost.  They used to use a carved stage for an event center.  He ran into Hermana Harris at the Lost River gift shop.  She completed her mission a few months ago and had brought her family back for a tour.  Crazy! When Hudson went to lunch, he ran into the Spring Hill Bishop O'Brien.  Talking with former Dylan who works at Domino's.  He always addresses Hudson so formally.  Good After Elder Nelson.  He works with Matt the Fortnite player from the trailer park.  Matt comes up to Dylan and asks who he is talking to.  Dylan says some guys from the Church of Latter Day Saints.  Matt asks, "wait are you talking to Elder Nelson" and Dylan saysYeah!  They plan to have a lesson together on Sunday.

Week 79

Saturday, March 19 Went back to Krista's to follow up and there is a pit bull hooked to a rusty chain growling at the Elder's when they get out of the car.  There are a lot of cardboard signs stuck in the lawn.  They say guard dog, no trespassing, Dog will bite and the Elders decide to get back in the car.  While they are sitting there Hudson reads a sign that says if dog is out honk.  He honk's but nothing happens.  Another sign says honk and yell Krista.  They do and she comes out the front door and lets them in.  No one else shows up.

Sunday, March 20 Lesson with Sue who is a lone wolf in religion.  She is a 60-year-old, Baptist, black woman that stared down Hudson.  She said she can tell a lot about people by looking in their eyes, so they had a staring contest.  After looking into his eyes, she proclaimed he had a wild child inside of him and asked if he was reckless.  She said Elder Walrath lacks confidence by looking in his eyes.  He needs to be himself and let it out.

Exchange with Elder Allman who has attention disorder, but is the best missionary Hudson has met. Found 34 people by using his street contact techniques.

Lesson with self-referred Sheila for 1.5 hours in a hard to find trailer park address.  She receives revelation for her friends after praying for seven days.  She looks Hudson up and down and is quiet for a minute and then says, "Life's been tough hasn't it?"  Hudson agrees the last month has been hard, but overall his life has been OK.  She then tells him that he has a lot of hard stuff ahead of him, but God's got him so it will be alright.  She also said Elder Walrath has some trials coming, but Hudson is going to have it hard.  Spoke with Hindu woman Sushmapatel who agreed to come to church, but she didn't.  They are hoping to get her a Hindi Book of Mormon as she does not speak good English.

Monday, March 21 Lesson with Phillip who has a very Eeyore personality.  The wife tells the missionaries they have to leave as they are going somewhere.  The wife pulled out in her car, but the Elder's went back knowing the Phillip was still at the house.  They went back and gave him a pamphlet and he gave them a smile.  Spoke with Krista and she says her boyfriend of eight years called and is cheating on her and broke up with her.  The people at her house stole her meds and money out of her safe.

Tuesday, March 22 Met Matt in a trailer park.  He was playing Fortnite.  He can't talk right now, but if the Elder's come back tomorrow he will talk to them.  Meet a creepy group of people walking home.  An older guy tries to get Hudson to leave them alone by telling him he is a Baptist.  The older lady inside tells them to let the Elder's in.  There are six people sitting inside on the couch and they taught the restoration, gave them all a Book of Mormon, and got them to commit to attend church.

Wednesday, March 23 Went to Matt's house.  He meets them and tells them it is not a good time.  He is about to smoke a blunt and play some Fortnite?  The Elder's decide to not hang around.

Turns out, my uncle is my grandpa! (Hudson's Podcast Week 78)

18th Months Downs

Hudson starts out his podcast playing Jessica's Theme from The Man from Snowy River.  Hoping to sooth our senses before starting.  His chair in the Franklin apartment is very squeaky.  His food supply is low, and they need to go shopping today.

Wednesday, March 9: PDay Back to the pond for bass fishing this time.  Hudson spends a lot of time with the Portland Elders.  The two sets of missionaries split the area in half, so church events and member meals are done with all four of them.  They play Coup a lot as a district, along with secret Hitler.  Similar layout to Werewolf.

Thursday, March 10:  Zone Conference in Hopkinsville.  Hudson told Elder Weaver that Moses was his example of commitment.  Poor Moses put up with a bunch of people that could not be pleased.  Hudson feels he learned if he wants eternal life he has to stay committed and put up with some people's nonsense as Moses did.  Great object lesson when the leader offers the group a treat, but one person has to do 10 pushups for each person that takes one. Some people will choose not to take the treat, so the person doesn't have to suffer, but surprise he has to do the pushups either way showing how Christ suffered even for those who don't accept the atonement.   Hudson and Elder Richards were called on to be the administering angels that helped the Hawaiin man finish about 300 pushups.  Mosiah 14 talks about Isaiah's scriptures regarding Christ's atonement.  In 3 Nephi 20 something Christ quotes Isaiah as well.  Woah!

Friday, March 11:  Carolyn wants to meet and have lunch this time.  They are at the church and cook a lunch of hot dogs with Sister Roach, her husband and 2 granddaughters.  As much as Sister Roach tries, Carolyn will not tell them anything about herself.  She says she doesn't want to share stuff with strangers?  The boys are confused.

Sunday, March 13:  Street contacting while visiting formers in the government housing.  Hudson decides to talk to a black family who pulls up.  He offers to share a scripture and she tells him she got her message from the priest this morning so amen and hallelujah.

Tuesday, March 15:  Sister Roach drives the boys to three lessons and proceeds to sit in on all of them.  Carolyn calls four times.  One time she tells them to stop calling her, because she doesn't like that they share bible scriptures about Ukraine.  Then she calls them back and acts like everything is great then hangs up.  Talking to Jimmy who hates all churches, but follows the commandments.  He doesn't believe in Jesus but does believe in the Messiah. What? Hudson has met a lot of religiously ignorant people in Franklin.  But he doesn't want to dwell on that!  Has been talking to Hannah on Facebook.  She calls and Hudson hangs up thinking it is a robot call.  Hudson calls her back and ends up talking for an hour.  She has a lot of family issues and one statement she makes is "Turns out, my uncle in my grandpa!"  She refers to Hudson as Elder about 40 minutes in and he founds out she is a member of the Bowling Green Ward that was baptized about 2 year ago, but is inactive.  She loves talking with the missionaries however.  Tonight headed to the temple for an endowment session, tomorrow for PDay.

Week 77

Wednesday, March 2:   The Portland Elders have a pond in their backyard and Hudson is excited to use it for PDay.  Hudson fulfilled his Southern dream to catch a Catfish. He put chicken liver on a big hook on his bait caster and then you have to just wait.  He had two poles, one on each hip like big red, while listening to Marty Robbins.  He held that stance for 45 minutes until he got the bite.  He pulled it in to the edge, and then Elder Randall primely pulled it from the water (like an animal) for a picture.  Fished for 4 hours and all he caught was the catfish and a little carp.

Thursday, March 3:  Downstairs neighbor came pounding on their door at 7:00 AM while they are working out.  Hudson said it sounding like Vietnam gun shots.  When he opens the door the man tells the Elder's that his pounding on the door is what his ceiling sounds like.  Elder Walrath is doing squat hops.  Whoopsy  Orders a new keyboard sustain pedal from a man in Kentucky.  When it comes there is a note in the bottom that says "Jesus is Yeshua!!!..."  Hudson feels he is taking a shot at the missionaries for believing in Jesus instead of Yeshua which is Hebrew for Jesus.  Confusing, but Hudson didn't want to open that fight.

Friday, March 4:  Lesson with Danielle, who lives with the Branch Presidents family is awesome.  She is on date for March 26.  The Elders have 3 lessons a week with her.  She loves the church and is so funny.  Hudson writes a note at the end of each day and she is noted about every other day because her lessons are so amazing.

Sunday, March 6:  Three investigators came to church including Danielle.  Elder Walrath contacted Larry on a cold call and they call him after church at 2:00 pm.  He is mad because the Elder's said they would call Saturday, but they got his number mixed up with another call.  He yells at Hudson in a drunken stupor.  He tells him he needed a verse yesterday.  Hudson asks if he can call him when he is not drunk as he is talking in circles and he gets very offended.  Hudson shares a scripture, but Larry tells him he is not holy because he lied to him and didn't call him.  He swears at him and tells him to never call again.  Carolyn comes to church then proceeds to call the Elders 3 times.  Hudson wonders if she has mental illness.  She finally asks them if they will have breakfast with them.  Sister Roach offers to cook.

Monday:  March 7:  Head to Sister Iva Roach for breakfast and Carolyn does not show?  Exchange with Elder Wells.

Tuesday, March 8:  Hudson is hoping drunk Larry has forgotten about their last conversation and the Elders call him.  Sure enough he has forgotten and is happy to talk to them again. Hudson quotes Ashlyn #livinglikeLarry.  Just make sure you are living like Larry the Lobster, not Larry the drunkard in Kentucky.   Lesson with Mary and her four extremely well behaved children

Wednesday, March 9: PDay back to the pond for bass this time.

Checked the mission book while on the phone with me and Sandy from Gregory Mills that Hudson was sad to leave is on date to be baptized March 19.  Alan and JoAnn from Spring Hill are on date to be baptized March 26.  When Hudson came into these last three area each had not had a baptism in over a year.  Anyone else seeing a pattern?
