He Made It To Nashville Week 93

 

Hudson has officially been moved to Nashville.  He is assigned to Smith Springs C.  There are 8 missionaries assigned to this ward.

His new address is:  1110 North Oaks Drive Nashville, TN 37211

Transfers are a bit different with a companion who is leaving the mission.  He took Elder Thomason to the mission home Tuesday morning.  Then his companion for 2 days until transfers officially happen was Elder Collier the Zone Leader.  They took PDay to look around Nashville and walk down Broadway for Hudson's first time.

Thursday, Jun 23:  Got his new companion Elder Northrup.  He is from California and has taken it upon himself to learn Swahili to help teach the people living in this area.  This could make for a difficult transfer is Hudson can't speak to people to teach them.

Hudson opens his podcast with reminiscing of how good this last transfer has been.  He admits he was skeptical at the beginning, but he had so much fun the last 5 weeks!  He will truly miss the Franklin Branch.  They had the most amazing members, he was so impressed with them.  But, all good things must come to an end as did this transfer.

Saturday, June 18:  Baptism of Judy Cardwell.  Judy has bell's palsy as to help you love her appearance as much as her spirit.  She asked Hudson to perform the baptism and again he was honored to do so.

Sunday, June 19:  Baptism of Betty Holloway.  Betty called the Elder's Thursday night and said she felt like she was dying.  Her body was going through nicotine withdrawals due to her fast rate of kicking the habit.  She was vomiting and hurt all over her body.  She knew if she just smoked a cigarette, she would feel better, but she was getting baptized on Sunday, darn it! and she wasn't giving up.  Hudson was amazed at her perseverance in the face of adversity.  Good for you Betty, can't wait to see you in the temple.

Another Baptism! Week 91

Hudson and Elder Thomason have been blessed with another baptism this week.  Tonya was baptized on Sunday, June 12 at the Bowling Green Building.   Hudson says it was probably the most spiritual baptism he has been to.

Sister Roach gave Betty a picture of the temple.  She is getting baptized next week and is already preparing to go to the temple.  Her baptism was short notice.  While having dinner at the "Roach motel" Betty announced she was getting baptized next Sunday.  The Elders were a bit taken a back.  Sister Roach asked her when she was going to quit smoking.  Betty promptly replied...Wednesday!

Wednesday, June 15:  Elder Thomason's last PDay in the mission field.  He picks to go to the rec center and play pickleball.  During Hudson's call McKinley puts a yellow cape on Tank.

Tuesday, May 31:  Portland Elders baptized Marilyn from New Jersey.  She reminded Hudson a lot of Connie.  This is the baptism Hudson had to play prelude for a long, long time.

Friday, June 3:  Got Betty to read the Book of Mormon, and she loves it!  Hudson suggests she sets an alarm to be on time to church.  She tells Hudson if God wants her there, He will have her awake.  2nd meeting with Christian Whitt teaching the restoration at McDonalds.  They asked him to read a chapter of the Book of Mormon and he asked them to read Ephesians 2 and Isaiah 6.  He wanted the Elders to see how God hates sinners and humans' amount to nothing.  Hudson feels he was showing that Joseph Smith could not have seen Joseph Smith in the First Vision.

Saturday, June 4:  One of the longest days in the mission field.  Elders went to the temple with Marilyn to do baptisms for the dead at 7:30AM.  Sister Roach drove them down after waking up at 5:00.  Sister Roach was baptized for her sister.  It was amazing.  Marilyn was in awe at the serenity and beauty of the temple.  The Elders were home by 10:15 and hit Facebook.  Branch cookout that night with a heated kickball game.  Sister Mitchell and Sister Stark have a secret they can't tell Hudson until transfers, when they know he is leaving?

Sunday, June 5:  9:00 am text from Betty that she is dressed and ready for church.  Sister Roach bore her testimony and really related to Betty.  Betty tells the Elders this is a new and amazing feeling she has never experienced.  She wants to go to the baptism.  Sister Roach drives them all to Bowling Green and the two hit it off!  Baptism of Samantha Perkins.  Hudson found her on Facebook about 2 months ago.  Hudson has noticed a change in her countenance.  She asked Hudson to perform the baptism, he was very humbled to do that for her. She shows up in a bright orange t-shirt and a pair of jeans.  Hudson felt it was very funny.  Aria Booher a return missionary that baked Hudson a birthday cake spoke on the Holy Ghost and relates it to catching a Pokémon. Samantha not only loves Pokémon, but chose to wear a Pokémon shirt to be confirmed in. She tells Samantha she hopes she always says to the Holy Ghost, I choose You!

Monday, June 6:  Dinner at Sister Roach's with Betty.  She was so excited she couldn't sleep the night before.  Hudson didn't want to do a formal lesson.  He suggested each person goes around the room and tells what God means to them.  Hudson said it was an amazing feeling in the house.  Betty wants more.

Tuesday, June 7: Tawnya passed baptism interview.

Wednesday, June 8:  Brother Lynn drove the Elders to the dentist since Elder Thomason had lost his filling.
